Tamundi Homestay · Freedom, discovery, experience

Tamundi is a small family of homestays in central Hanoi, made for travellers who want to experience the city the way locals do. Inspired by a minimalist way of living close to nature, every Tamundi house brings together calm, light-filled rooms and genuine local service, so you can enjoy Hanoi's food, culture and everyday rhythm to the fullest.

Our first house: Tamundi Alley

Tamundi Alley Homestay sits in Ham Long 2 alley, a peaceful lane where local families still live, cook and greet each other every morning. Step outside and you are on Ham Long street, one of the city's liveliest local neighbourhoods, just 900 metres from Hoan Kiem Lake and a six-minute walk from the Hanoi Opera House.

Its rooms open onto windows or private balconies full of plants, light and fresh air. It is a place to rest, slow down and feel at home, while everyday Hanoi waits right at the end of the alley.

Hanoi, the way locals know it

As a lifelong lover of food and travel, our host shares a list of "secret" restaurants and cafés that only Hanoians know, from pho, bun cha and banh cuon to egg coffee and the street-side stalls everyone queues for. We are always happy to plan your itinerary and tours with you, free of charge.

Check in by yourself from 2 PM, earlier if your room is ready, or late at night after a long flight. Whatever time you arrive, Tamundi is ready to welcome you home.

    Hanoi
    Old Quarter

From the alley, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Turtle Tower are an eight-minute walk, the French colonial Opera House six minutes, and St Joseph's Cathedral and Hanoi Train Street about ten, perfect for a coffee as the train squeezes past. A local market around the corner sells fresh fruit and vegetables at neighbourhood prices.

In the evening, Ta Hien street fills with music and cold beer, and the double-decker city bus leaves right from the lake. Further afield, the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison and West Lake are a short ride away, or let us arrange a vintage jeep tour on a route made just for you.
